Dear Furiosities readers,
Looking back on it from here, it is undeniable that 2017 has been an odd year for the world. The truly bizarre state of global politics and culture has many of us looking forward to a fresh start in 2018.
Yet for me personally, 2017 has been a banner year. It’s difficult to believe, looking back, how much I have done in these twelve short months. I volunteered in Belize, traveled in 7 countries, fought through reverse culture shock, struggled with the job search, became a published author, witnessed a total eclipse, and moved to New York City.
And that’s not even to mention Furiosities! In 2017 this website has grown from a crazy, whimsical idea to what it is today. In 52 weeks I’ve written 43 posts spanning five countries, dredging up the best and the worst moments from my travels in vivid detail. Furiosities posts have been featured on Dave’s Travel Corner, Cayo Scoop, Belizean news, and even published in a women’s travel anthology.
I could not be more grateful for the opportunities I have had this year, both personally and as Furiosities. I especially want to thank all of you for following me on this wild ride. I have enjoyed every moment of telling you my stories and I cannot express how much I appreciate the time and support you have given me in return.
Happy New Year, everyone — here’s to a 2018 full of travel, humor, love, and rich human experiences.
